Just Pretty

(PSSST! I’m over on Newlymeds today, sharing my picks for clothing items that can take you from summer to fall and back again. Come visit me on Kelly’s blog, which chronicles her life as the wife of a plastic surgery resident (recipes and medical advice included)!)

Everyone remembers when Kate Middleton stepped out of her limo at the 10th Anniversary ARK dinner looking like this, right?:

This is by far one of my favorite dresses that she’s worn. And it’s by Jenny Packham, of course.

I’ve flipped through LOTS of the Spring 2012 shows at this point, and the Jenny Packham presentation was easily the only one where I was bowled over by 85% of the looks or more. DVF? You know, it was okay, a few amazing things here and there. Jason Wu? A couple dresses that wowed. The Row? Ehh…really not my thing. But Jenny? Jenny’s got it going on. Feast your eyes:

Just gorgeous, right? Stay tuned, because the one and only J.Crew shows this morning. That’s right. For the first time EVER, J.Crew is hitting the runway. INSANE.

Also, for all you Kelly Wearstler fans, here’s her lookbook. Girlfriend finds amazing fabrics, but sometimes I just don’t get the looks. Like this and this? Love it. This and this? Confuses me. Some of the pieces look like she just took extra bolts of fabric from her back storage area and fashioned them into dresses.

Finally, check out Rachel Zoe’s collection too (in advance of The Rachel Zoe Project, natch BABE.). Thoughts???

Okay, I promise a non-fashion week related post is coming later today. Then tomorrow, it’s Behind the Scenes per usual. This means I can get away with doing one more fashion week post later in the week, right?

  2. You’re right – that red and cream one is so pretty and the pattern is just right! I’m sure we’ll see that one on the red carpet soon

  5. The dresses are gorgeous.

I think KW is still trying to find her voice. It’s such a different medium.

RZ’s collection is totally wearable — I love it!

  6. gahhhh… I love Jenny Packman. 100% agreed, I loved her latest collection! Filed away under “someday,” there is a dress in her bridal line that would be my dream “big day” dress… her confections are to die for!!

i wanted to ask you something off topic… how did you get your collages look so nice? is there a program? i just have no idea, but i discovered that it is a bit stupid po post just a bunch of pictures without any lay outing…

    thanx for the help

    • Hi Martina! I use Adobe Photoshop Elements for most of my collages. Check
out my Q+A (at the top of the blog), which also lists some free resources for
graphics editing if you’re not ready to invest in Photoshop quite yet. Hope this
      helps!
