Scenes from my weekend

“Is it January, or the middle of summer?”

This is what Joe said to me when we took a quick trip to the grocery store and it was 70 degrees outside. And sunny. East coasters, don’t hate me. Although, from what I understand, it seems like everyone is experiencing a fairly mild winter so far.

We kicked off the weekend with a homemade pizza on Friday night. Delicious. Saturday, we woke up to clear skies and gorgeous weather, and decided to take a long walk to brunch (almost 4.5 miles round trip!). We took the scenic route, walking through Presidio Heights, one of SF’s toniest neighborhoods, and daydreamed about which house we’d pick out if we had the cash. After such an ambitious morning, we spent the rest of the afternoon at home, then enjoyed cocktails and dinner with my uncle in the evening.

Sunday was another gorgeous day, and I spent the morning enjoying lots of tea and a book sent to me by my friend Susannah, my fellow Jane Austen and regency era-loving partner in crime. It was a quick, light read; the perfect thing for a weekend. The late afternoon light was so gorgeous, I couldn’t help but snap a picture of the small purple orchid that I’ve managed to keep alive in my home office.

What did your weekend look like?

  1. Busy weekend over here! Yours looks lovely…and that orchid is gorgeous.

  2. I just heard about that book, I’m intrigued! I love Jane Austen and I love murder mysteries so I definitely have to check it out. And that pizza looks amazing-homemade pizza is on my list of goals to tackle as soon as possible. I hope mine comes out nearly as good as that!

  3. Looks like a perfect weekend to me! And yes we’ve had a mild winter so far, but still not 70 degrees :)

  4. My weekend included a lot of moving boxes, shopping, and settling in my new place.

I’m also a Jane Austen/Regency literature person– which book was this? Death Comes to Pemberley? That’s one of the few spin-off ones that I’ve heard positive things about recently.

  5. Looks like a perfect weekend to me!
Your orchid is gorgeous! I managed to keep one alive for about 8 months. When I started gushing about how awesome my botanical skills were it decided to teach me a lesson in bragging and completely dropped all of its flowers almost overnight. You’ll have to tell me your secret!

  6. omggeeee now I want pizza for lunch today! that looks delish. such nice weather recently and I’m a sucker for orchids! :)

  7. Jealous of your 70 degree weather, but it is supposed to be 54 in Chicago on Wednesday – which is crazy. Sounds like you had a lovely weekend indoors + out. Happy Monday!

  8. I’m in DC & our weather was in the upper 60’s- gorgeous! I had a similar relaxing & enjoyable weekend- much needed after the holidays.

  15. Sounds like a lovely weekend! Long strolls in unseasonably warm weather are the best. We’ve been having some pretty nice weather in Oregon, too. I’m enjoying it while it lasts! We had a busy but relaxing weekend or food, friends and movies on the couch.

  16. Ok… when can I move to California?? So jealous of you. Looks like a perfect weekend :) The only thing that can make it better…. perfectly ridiculous reality TV tonight!
