From the market

Some favorite things I brought home this week, in pictures:

There's nothing like basil in the dead of summer. Reader, I'm truly sorry you aren't able to bury your nose in this. It's heavenly. I don't know what's holding up the invention of smell-o-vision,

There's nothing like basil in the dead of summer. Reader, I'm truly sorry you aren't able to bury your nose in this. It's heavenly. I honestly don't know what's holding up the invention of smell-o-vision.

Cherries are a fun fruit to eat. Especially if your gentleman friend feeds them to you as if you're a goddess.

Cherries are a fun fruit to eat. Especially if your gentleman friend feeds them to you as if you're a goddess. (And especially if said gentleman friend is kind enough to hold up a small glass bowl to your mouth after each bite, so you can ever-so-delicately dribble out the hard seeds. A cherry pit spittoon, if you will. I am SO ridiculously well cared for.)

Other favorites: a small block of Humboldt Fog, yogurt and plenty of cucumbers to make homemade tzatziki sauce, and two pints of adorable cherry tomatoes.  The tomatoes don’t get a portrait because 1) I was too busy shoving them into my mouth like little candies to have time to stop and photograph them and 2) I WANT THEM ALL TO MYSELF.
